young man believed to be about twenty-six (26) years has been arrested by residents in Abuakwa-Manhyia in the Ashanti Region for his alleged engagement in a suspected voodoo act.
Residents explain that the young man was seen carrying a white casket late in the night. After residents apprehended him, he could not give any tangible reasons for carrying the coffin, but residents suspect that the motive behind carrying the coffin was for the spiritual purpose. Throwing more light on the matter, a resident, Kojo Tawiah explained that he saw the young man carrying a white casket on top of a Toyota Corolla to a T-Junction in the middle of the town.
He explained further that he saw the man drop the casket on the junction and attempted to leave it there in the middle of the night. Kojo Tawiah explained that he approached the strange man and demanded explanations for leaving the casket in the middle of the town at such an ungodly hour.
The young man tried to make up excuses for the coffin belonging to a priest of Abuakwa-Manhyia but his claims were proven to be lies when the priest was called to the scene at that hour. Speaking to reporters in an interview, Kojo Tawiah explained that it was not the very first time they were experiencing such acts in the community. he noted that a few young men in the neighbourhood that volunteered to keep watch at night in order to grab the perpetrators in the a
He said ‘ this is not the first time something of this sort has happened in Abuakwa-Manhyia. Young boys and girls have been dying mysteriously due to these kinds of things. We use to wake up to coffins in the middle of the road, then in two- or three-days young boys and girls die for no reason. This has led some of us to watch our town when it’s dawn in order to stop these things.’
But for the intervention of a few notable persons in the town, the highly incensed youth would have lynched the suspect to death. The suspect has since been taken to the Abuakwa=Manhyia police station for investigations and onward action.
