Tiwa Savage Appreciates Friend who Fed Her When She was Broke
Nigerian music star, Tiwa Savage, has recalled how she once lived from hand to mouth in a shelter meant for poor people with drug addiction issues while she was in New York with little or no money.
Savage made this known during a surprise party her friends organised for her to celebrate her latest album ‘Celia’ which was released August 28, 2020.
According to the singer, she was 22 then and being an international student, she couldn’t get a job to meet her needs.
As a result, she had to make do with what she received from home and settled to stay in Bedford–Stuyvesant better known as Bed-Stuy, a project dedicated to poor people with drug-related issues in New York.
She appreciated her friend, Elizabeth Elohor, former beauty queen and founder of Beth Models, for coming through for her when she couldn’t afford to buy herself a meal when they had gone out for lunch.
Tiwa said: “I remember she was looking at me and asked, ‘what are you ordering?.’ And I was just lying that I was not hungry. And then she just started asking me, ‘are you sure?.’ And then I just started crying. And then she’s just like, ‘what is the matter?.’ I said, ‘Elohor, I don’t have money.”
And Elohor not only bought food for her to eat but also ordered what she would take home.
Tiwa closed her appreciation speech by advising others not to let time rob them of their joy.Profile Empire.News
